I am Billie. Born and raised in South Carolina with an addiction to Sweet Tea and shopping, I prefer my summers on the lake and my winters in the woods.
I have an A.S. in Business and A.S.S. in Funeral Services. I am a South Carolina licensed Mortician at my family owned and operated Mortuary. In 2005, I married my high school sweetheart, Matthew, an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. We have two dogs: Scarlett (Bloodhound) and Rhett (Mountain Fiest). Matt and I are members of Lowndesville Baptist Church, where we both work in the Children and Youth Ministries. God has shown me that a faithful lifestyle to him leads to a blessed life. God has truly blessed us.
In addition to being a former high school and college cheerleader, I also have over 15 years’ experience in the pageant industry – competing, coaching, directing, and judging. I have held titles all over the Carolinas and Georgia. My platform is #wearteal for #PTSDawareness in honor of my father’s and husband’s service to this county. My husband was diagnosed with PTSD in 2008.
I was not raised around hunting or fishing and had never shot a gun until I met my husband. With him being an avid outdoorsman, I wanted to give it a try as well. However, I was told by so many that because of my background, I could never do it, I would never be able to pull the trigger, much less even be good at it. I took that negative energy and let it fuel my determination to prove them all wrong. Little did I know, it would turn into a passion.
Over the course of several years, I began to get my own hunting gear and soon after I wanted my own spot. With the help and encouragement of my father-in-law, ‘my spot’ was developed. I wanted to make sure when I went, it was me. I wanted to be able to hunt alone. I wanted my harvest, whatever that may be, to be my harvest. I did not want it to be because my husband handed me a gun and said shoot.
Finally, on October 1st, 2010 I went on my first hunt and harvested my first animal, a wild hog. That day, my passion and love for hunting began. I love to hunt whitetail, wild hog, turkeys, and waterfowl. I’ll fish for anything that’s biting and even hand fish for catfish. I am dedicated year-round to maintaining hunting properties, cameras, deer feeders, and scouting for the upcoming season.
Blood, sweat, and tears (both of joy and frustration) have been a part of my journey. I have never lost hope or given up. I would not have it any other way. It makes each and every hunt special and each harvest even more so.
I am a member of Whitetails Unlimited, NWTF, Delta Waterfowl, Sportsmen’s Alliance, and Ducks Unlimited. I am a Pro-Staffer for Just for Does, ALPS Outdoorz, and Bone Hawg Outdoors, a Shooting Staff Team Member for Bohning Archery, Tactacam Team Member and a member of the Easton Pro Team. I am also a proud supporter and volunteer with the Outdoor Dream Foundation (http://outdoordream.org/).
